Why Do You Wake Up?
It is a simple question with more than one answer. The first and primary reason that we wake up is because God wills it. Once we open our eyes, the next moves we make, I believe, are on us. For most of us, we start preparing for work; Let’s pause here. It may seem that we HAVE TO GO to work, but in reality, we do not. Yes, we have bills, expenses and various financial obligations, but it is a choice to maintain them. There are, unfortunately, many individuals that find “giving up” as a more viable life route for reasons that are not always fair.
See, you, reading this blog post, decided to push through and carry your responsibilities today. You got dressed, you went to work, you came home, you ate, you were kind when you did not want to be, you had the tough conversations with customers and co-workers, you exuded patience when you thought you had ran out, you took this day; And you didn’t have to. Whether you approached the day with an overload of excitement or went through the motions waiting for the moment to return home, YOU DID IT.
It is easy to fixate on the aspects of life that are not where we want them to be, but we must be careful not to lose sight of every battle we FIGHT and especially the battles we WIN. Waking up and leaving our homes each day is not always easy, especially when we are feeling discouraged and/or in the midst of difficult circumstances.
I would like to close this blog post by asking you not to be so hard on yourself. Of course, we ALL have room for improvement in one or many aspects of our lives WHILE striving for better. We must practice acknowledging the strength in simply putting one foot in front of the other. Find joy in your strength, because you have not given up…and even if you have, I encourage you to start again – it is not too late so long as breath is in your lungs.
It is okay not to know your purpose YET. During the process of discovering your purpose, remember that your continued existence on this earth is PROOF that your life has purpose. Do not be discouraged. You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.

What a great reminder! I needed this. About a month and a half ago I was diagnosed with depression. This was a very hard question for me to answer. I’m so thankful for this perspective. I will definitely be referring back to this on those tough days. Thank you!
