Battling Anxiety & Depression,  Note to Self,  Spiritual

The Fight is Fixed

I’ve tried the resilience thing without God and it did not give the vibes I was hoping for. I always eventually got burnt out. I ran in circles in my life for a long time.

I’m new to having a deepened faith and relationship with God, but it hasn’t taken long to see the drastic difference between doing life with fully surrendered faith and doing life with lukewarm faith.

Now, I understand how faith combats fear. In the past, I’ve prayed to God but I still felt like He may not come through because I deserved whatever was coming my way. My relationship with God was very performance-based, and so my faith wasn’t quite what it needed to be.

Quite frankly, I didn’t know God like I know Him today. I don’t have Him figured out – I mean, He’s GOD, our Creator, the Alpha and the Omega. No sense in pretending my thinking is on the same playing field. What I know about Him today is what gives me the boldness to persevere through anything that comes my way.

I try not to do things according to my own power these days. I handle what’s in front of me and trust God to handle the rest. I stay in His Word to drill the truth of the matter into my brain. Here are some of the Scriptures I have been trying to commit to memory when I’m facing hardships:

  •  “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.” – Psalms‬ ‭40‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
  • “I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.” – Psalms‬ ‭120‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬
  • “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” – ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
  • “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” – Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭105‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
  • “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”” – Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
  • “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ever since I’ve been navigating life’s ups and downs with God at the center, my faith continues to grow. I have A L O T more peace and haven’t experienced depression and anxiety in many months.

Now, that’s not to say I haven’t felt fear or frustration. I’ve cried some heavy tears but I’ve been trying to do it in prayer, laying everything at God’s feet, and repeating some of the Scriptures until I felt the heaviness and hardness in my heart lift.

IT WORKS! The fight is fixed when God is in the midst; We just have to show up to the fight.
