Mind Your Thoughts

MIND YOUR THOUGHTS

“Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000 –
80,000 thoughts a day.” To say that your mind is racing is a wild
understatement. The good news? You CAN control your thoughts. I would
like to immediately follow up with this: controlling your thoughts is
admittedly a difficult task and requires will power. Like most activities,
controlling our thoughts gets easier with practice and persistence.

It is said that it takes a minimum of 21 days to form a
habit – something you do automatically or without much thought; But we can
start even smaller. Try controlling your thought right now: decide what you
want (or should) think about, and do not stop until that is what you are
thinking about.
For instance, if you keep thinking about the job that you
hate or how your life is not where you want it to be, you can disrupt that
train of thought with something you are grateful for or your next steps to
change what is making you unhappy.

You will not stop thinking bad, depressing thoughts
without any effort; You MUST replace those thoughts with good, healthy,
productive ones
. Unfortunately, depression and anxiety do not just go away.
You won’t find peace without effort. The life you want will not fall into your
lap.

Controlling our thoughts is easily the most underrated tool
to defeating anxiety and depression. It is a simple, ongoing task that requires
a serious commitment. We are all capable of claiming authority over our minds,
we just have to think intentional thoughts, one thought bubble at a time.

Try writing down your thoughts (I think you
saw this suggestion coming
).
