Don’t Hate Yourself

Idk who needs to hear this but God’s grace is sufficient. You don’t have to walk around hating yourself for the mistakes you’ve made

Get to know God. He just wants you to believe that when you ask Him to forgive you, you are forgiven. He wants you to try to do better, understanding that you’ll never be perfect.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to live under the weight of self pity. Let me confirm that there is nothing good that comes from it. Self pity, self hatred, and all its cousins only slow us down, or worse, keep us stuck.

The best way to heal the pain we’ve caused ourselves and others is to focus on being the person we want to be, and not the person we have been. This takes WORK

We can’t think ourselves into a new way of life. Being different means behaving different, which requires us to think different. Focus on what we’ve learned from our mistakes, and not the mistake itself. Focus on the new habit we’re building, and not the bad habit we’re breaking in the process.

Basically, walk through life with our focus on what’s in front of us, not what’s behind us. That’s what God is doing.

For me, I’ve felt mentally, spiritually, and emotionally lighter, more confident, and at peace. My thoughts, actions, and goals aren’t tied to what I “deserve” for the wrong I’ve done, but on the grace God has covered me with and the purpose still on my life.

So the next time you or a loved one starts giving too much time to self pity, hatred, and loathing, remember that God does not desire this for you. He paid a great price so that you can live free of the weight of our worst mistakes; So live free.
